I have gained valuable confidence and office experience from completing my apprenticeship with Ubico. When I first started my placement I wasn’t the most confident with customers or residents on the phone but with continual progress and dealing with awkward customers this has dramatically changed. I am now learning techniques to always have a good conversation with customers. This placement also gave me valuable office experience, I had never worked in an office before so this was a good starting base and helped me learn how office life works. The Gold Standard helped me by constantly meeting me and helping me with any queries I had, they were very helpful when questions didn’t totally make sense and they were always only an email away. This proved invaluable and allowed me to finish all of the assignments within the allocated time frame and achieve my NVQ L3 in Business Administration.
I am now training to be an accountant, I sincerely believe without the apprenticeship and office experience I wouldn’t have got this job, the apprenticeship has given me a great opportunity and I intend to push on further with my education in this specific subject.
Liam Lewis, Business Administration Apprentice at UBICO
When Liam joined Ubico in September 2015, he was a quiet, shy young lad with no office work experience but plenty of potential. As Liam progressed through his NVQ Level 3 and his workplace training, he not only met the expectations and demands of a very busy Operations office but by the end of his placement was exceeding all expectations required of an apprentice and comfortably performing many tasks within the remit of the Operational Supervisors role. From day one Liam’s skills on the computer were strong and this helped him take on a range of administrative tasks which complemented his NVQ work. As Liam’s confidence grew, so did his communication skills – Liam dealt with customers, crews and internal stakeholders, sometimes over sensitive or difficult issues and resolved them in a calm, professional manner.
Liam will be an asset to any team he joins either within or outside of operational administration roles.
